In April there was an event for whisky enthusiasts and writers at the elegant Alsterhaus in Hamburg to celebrate the launch of The Dalmore Luminary 2 release. Hosted by yours truly, the evening was a delightful blend of luxury and exquisite whisky culture. Together with Merlin Braun we reworked a cocktail called the Dundee Highball making it the “Hamburg Marmalade Highball” to kick off the evening. Looked great, tasted even better. I’ll add the recipe very soon! All of this took place in front of the backdrop of an extraordinary piece design by Haus F. Later we moved on to an exclusive dinner in the Hanse Lounge to taste the new release from The Dalmore.

The spotlight was on The Dalmore Luminary 2 Series, a captivating duo of releases co-created by Melodie Leung and master whisky makers Gregg Glass and Richard Paterson. The Rare Luminary 2024 Edition is limited to just three decanters and two figural bottles and features a 49-year-old Dalmore. The whisky boasts floral and herbal qualities and is a true alchemical marvel.

The Collectible Luminary No. 2 2024 Edition is limited to only 120 bottles in Germany. It is a sublime 16-year-old Dalmore that pays homage to 49-year-old Dalmore from the Rare Edition. A touch of exceptionally rare, peated Dalmore adds roasted chestnut notes, creating a symphony of flavours. A huge thanks to Whyte and Mackay and Mack & Schühle for co-organizing this unforgettable event. I thoroughly enjoyed contributing to the organisation. Our combined commitment to whisky excellence made it all possible.

As the sun dipped below the Elbe, glasses were raised to honour tradition, innovation, and the spirit of The Dalmore. Until next time!
